The adaptations of games in series are not lacking lately, and it has been a long time that we mention the case of an adaptation for God of War, either in film or in series. If this was more of a fantasy than a reality in recent years, things seem to be clearly becoming clearer according to Deadline, which reports that a series is well in preparation, and that it could happen on the Amazon Prime Video service.
We want Christopher Judge in Kratos, but we’ll probably have Chris Pratt
The site, still reliable with this kind of information, reveals that Amazon is in discussions to produce a series God of War, in collaboration with PlayStation Productions.
Deadline claims that the series would be in the hands of Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, creators and executive producers of the science fiction series The Expanse, as well as Rafe Judkins, producer and showrunner of the recent fantasy series The Wheel of Time.
We therefore know nothing else about this adaptation project, and we still do not know who will play in the show and if the series will first revisit Greek mythology or if the story will start directly within Nordic mythology, as the latest episode and God of War Ragnarok (probably the latter choice, if the production wants to capitalize on the success of these opus).
If this is true, Amazon Prime Video proves once again that Netflix is not the only platform to see game adaptations like the El Dorado of tomorrow. We already know that an adaptation of It Takes Two is in preparation, and the Mass Effect series also seems to be in the game. We are now waiting for a confirmation for the series God of War, but no doubt that the casting ideas are already in the minds of the fans.
